Youth Spring Rowing

JUNIOR SPRING 2018

We are excited to kick off another Spring season of rowing. Everyone at the club is looking forward to what this season has in store and we hope you plan to join us. CBRC strives to foster community and a healthy lifestyle for all our athletes. We welcome all experienced (Varsity) and new rowers (Novice) who are ready to learn the sport. This year we will have two programs available:

High School Program

Practices Monday- Friday 3:30-5:30pm

Jan 29 - May 21 (Varsity)

Feb 5 - May 21 (Novice)

Competes at regattas

Middle School Program

Practices Monday & Wednesday 3:30-5:30pm

Feb 5 - May 21

Does not compete at regattas

Team Clothing:

All junior team athletes are required to purchase the minimum racing uniform. All other clothing items can be purchased as desired. May 18-20th: Northwest District Championships - Vancouver, WA

May 21st: Last practice of Spring Season for non-national athletes

May 22nd: End of season banquet 5:30pm @ CBRC Boathouse

REGATTAS

Regatta Information and Payment Schedule:

Regatta payments

Regattas that the we travel to and stay overnight will be charged separate from instructional fees. Payments can be made by check or use the PayPal buttons in the link above. The travel costs will consist of the van rentals, gas for the vans, lodging costs, at least one meal with the team. Due dates for the regatta travel costs are listed under each regatta. Costs for these regattas will be determined shortly after the season starts after hotel reservations are made and room and van costs are determined.

Tri meet at Olympia - March 11th:

We will travel down to Olympia to scrimmage both Olympia and Bainbridge Rowing Club in 2000m races. This is a great opportunity as our first race of the season to get out on the water with other Northwest teams and prepare for spring season racing.

Green Lake Spring Regatta - March 17th:

This regatta is held at Seattle's Green Lake Park. It is an all day event that offers great spectating for new parents. Athletes will row a shorter (1,000 meter) course.

  • Participation: All junior athletes (varsity and novice)
  • Cost: There is no additional cost for this regatta

Husky Open Regatta - March 31st:

This regatta is for Varsity rowers only and will be held at University of Washington in Seattle

  • Participation: Varsity rowers only
  • Cost: There is no additional cost for this regatta

Covered Bridge Regatta - April 14- 15th:

The Covered Bridge Regatta is held at Dexter Lake southeast of Eugene Oregon. This is our first regatta that we will stay overnight at a hotel and travel will be in rented vans. We will leave Friday morning for this regatta. Athletes are expected to let their teachers know in advance of their abscence and arrange for take home work.

  • Participation: All junior athletes (varsity and novice)
  • Cost $225.00 to make your payment go to regatta payments
  • Payment due date: April 5th

American Lake Scrimmage v. South Kitsap - April 28th

We will be hosting a home scrimmage on April 28th with South Kitsap High School. Rowers from all squads will have the opportunity to get another run down the 2k course before we set our sights on our biggest Regatta of the year.

  • Participation: All junior athletes (varsity and novice)
  • Cost: There is no additional cost for this regatta

Northwest Junior District Championships - May 18- 20th:

This is the culmination of the spring season. The regatta is held on Vancouver Lake in Vancouver, Washington. This three day event pits our crews against everyone in the northwest. Most races have both heats and finals as crews compete for the grandstand and medals. The top two finishers in varsity races qualify for the Youth National Championships to be held June 8 - 10 at Lake Natoma, CA this year. The team will travel to Districts by vans and will be leaving on Thursday May 17th. See the travel packet for more information.
