Commencement Bay Rowing Club Founded in 1992, CBRC began rowing in a four-oared shell out of Bill’s Boathouse on American Lake. Through the support, hard work and generosity of many individuals, our new boathouse was built in 1997 on Land leased from the City of Lakewood at Harry Todd Park. Junior Rowing Our Junior Rowing Program has encompassed over 17 high schools in Pierce and South King County. Our athletes compete in many regional and international regattas each year. CBRC has been represented on the Junior National Team, and many of our athletes continue to row in colleges across the country. Facility Our 12,000 square foot boathouse is one of the largest in the Northwest. We have four active boat bays, one each for the Masters, PLU, UPS and the CBRC Juniors and one bay for repairs. The upstairs is a large room suitable for meetings and events and is also used for land training—conditioning and practice using the 10 ergs (rowing machines). American Lake is a beautiful body of water with many miles of rowing and protected “no-wake” zones. CBRC has three launching docks made especially for rowing shells |
